Gala on the Sea, June 6, 7pm-11pm!

Join the  B. Someday crew, friends and sponsors for the first annual Gala on the Sea on Saturday, June 6, 2009 from 7pm to 11pm, at Walking Fish Theatre, 2509 Frankford Avenue. We invite you to an evening of marine fun. Mix and mingle with mermaid and triton performers. Enjoy dancing to music by the Dan Ramos Latin Trio, a silent auction, victuals and the opportunity to win a Kinetic TFR Moped, all to benefit Walking Fish Theatre, Fishtown and East Kensington’s only resident theatre company.

"Bring me culture and refreshment, I pray you..."

As Fishtown and East Kensington rapidly become neighborhoods of artists and craftspeople, Walking Fish Theatre is riding the wave of that change.  At our Gala on the Sea, you can be a part of it!  The Dan Ramos Latin Trio will perform their soulful blend of jazz, cha-cha and salsa. They are a staple of Philadelphia’s Latin music scene, and have played at such venues as The Kimmel Center and Zanzibar Blue. Radio personality Steve Kurtz, of Cruisin’ 92.1 FM, will host our benefit auction.

The real gala stars are the local  business owners who rally in support of Walking Fish Theatre. At the Gala, you can bid on gifts from sponsors such as Fishtown Jewelers, LifeSport, Lancaster Farm Fresh, or Kung Fu Necktie. Victuals will be donated by local restaurants including Otolith Sustainable Seafood and Bistro Juliana . Beverages will be provided by Philadelphia Brewing Company.  Finally, we’ll be awarding the Kinetic TFR Moped from Sponsor G-Team Racing of Fishtown, for which you can still purchase raffle tickets through June 5!

While you’re dancing, bidding and noshing, you can mingle with costumed mermaid performers. Late in the evening, you might even see some darker denizens of the deep, like pirates and zombie mermaids. Bring your camera!

Theresa Ramsay of the Neighborhood Parenting Program says, “Walking Fish is a terrific place for people to have meaningful, exciting live arts and entertainment in their lives, while feeling very much at home.”

Please note: Our location for the Gala has changed. We are sorry to inform everyone that Philadelphia Brewing Company can no longer hold events in their facility due to some insurance issues. Not to worry–the party is moving to the Fish!

Tickets are $60 per individual and $100 per couple. Scooter raffle tickets are $5 each. Dress is semi-formal, so show us how fabulous you are. You can always purchase tickets for our events at www.walkingfishtheatre.com, or by calling 215-427-WALK. There’s never a handling fee. Come celebrate with us.
